Toronto Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their initial Fall Classic since 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the ALCS.
Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming championship.
"It's incredible for our team, our city, our country," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, making him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that moment other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's painful" after his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.
Toronto won the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
