The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest action-packed game that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for celebrating chaos and madness with the same excitement, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two creators whose projects have exemplified all of those things.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' structure by having a fresh location and ensemble in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX team constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual bold, daring approach to the television.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
