It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship should hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.
