Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his position after a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's worst run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

The manager highlighted known failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
