Performer Rejects Anti-Vaxxer Position Following Voicing Disputed Covid Feature

The "Taken" star has lent his voice to a new documentary that questions the legitimacy of immunizations and lauds ex- government figure Robert F Kennedy Jr.

The Documentary's Disputed Origins

Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a well-known publication co-authored by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the pandemic for allegations that the virus was linked to a bad strain of the influenza shot.

Her collaborator, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with far-right radio host Alex Jones. Heckenlively wrote online praising Neeson's participation in the film.

A Strong Denial

A spokesperson for the actor have released a comment pushing back against claims that he supports anti-vax beliefs.

"Many understand that misconduct may occur within the pharmaceutical industry, but that cannot be confused with being against vaccines," the response reads. "Liam never has been, and cannot be described as, anti-vax. His extensive work with Unicef reinforces his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."

It added that the actor had no hand in the documentary's narrative and that questions about its claims should be directed to the filmmakers.

Key Themes In the Film

According to the documentary, the voiceover spoken by Neeson includes several controversial statements:

  • It states that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to government bodies.
  • It argues that "science has become highly politicised."
  • RFK Jr is featured saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not adequately tested."
  • The narration also criticizes Covid lockdowns, claiming they caused mental anguish that cost thousands of lives.
  • On the topic of pandemic shots, it mentions a view that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "dangerous experiments."

Past Background and Recent Disputes

The documentary includes a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was subsequently the subject of a correction by the network for violations of guidelines.

Last month, RFK Jr called on the Centers for Disease Control to change its longstanding position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is also referenced in the documentary, even with a fresh analysis from the global health body reiterating no such link has been found.

An Earlier Statement of Endorsement

Contrasting the film's tone, Neeson has formerly voiced clear advocacy for vaccines in his position as a Unicef global ambassador.

Previously, he referred to vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," noting that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has forgotten how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in our history."

"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration stating, "This isn't the conclusion of our journey. It is the start of a new chapter."
