Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
