Bashir has claimed 68 wickets at an average of 39 across 19 five-day games
England have kept their options open for the initial Ashes match by selecting spin bowler the young spinner in a squad of twelve alongside five seamers
The fast bowler is declared fit and seems set to play against Australia in Western Australia on Friday, with the final decision likely coming down to the young spinner and pace bowler the seamer
Pitch Conditions
Should England choose an fast bowling unit - four dedicated bowlers plus multi-skilled player the captain - it would potentially be the quickest collection of pacemen they have fielded in an Ashes Test in the host nation
On Wednesday Western Australia pitch curator Isaac McDonald said to expect "pace and bounce" from the pitch at Perth Stadium, and it seems likely the tourists will follow a established strategy of an exclusively pace attack
Yet the tourists have also noted a dryness to the surface, bringing Bashir into the running
Spin Considerations
Throughout the limited timeframe of this venue - five earlier Tests have been staged here - Australia spin bowler Lyon is the leading wicket-taker with 29
The English management have supported the young spinner, 22 years old, as their first-choice spinner for since last year and in recent months he was recognized as the most youthful English bowler to reach half-century of wickets in Tests
However he has not played a competitive game since securing the last dismissal in a thrilling win over the Indian team in the third Test at the famous ground in July
Recent Issues
He has been recovering from a broken finger and had challenges in the sole practice game against the Lions, posting overall statistics of 2-151 from his bowling spell
This creates the scenario of Bashir playing in an Ashes match without being affiliated with a county
The agreement at the domestic team concluded at the finish of the English season
Probable Team
However, an visiting team containing Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, Atkinson, skipper Ben Stokes and Carse - every one of them are likely to hit high speeds - continues to be the probable result
The first Test begins at early morning GMT on Friday, with instant commentary, expert analysis and live action clips provided

The side that succeeded at domestically in the famous series of 2005 Ashes featured Harmison, Jones and Andrew Flintoff
Raymond Illingworth's triumphant visitors to Australia in that era had Bob Willis, Peter Lever and John Snow, and the England team that won in that period included Brian Statham and Frank 'Typhoon' Tyson
Present Circumstances
On this occasion - potentially the most exciting Test series in modern times - England are looking to overturn an awful record - they have failed to win a Test in the host country since that year
Merely five individuals of the sixteen-player group have played a Test in the host nation, but the bowler states that could benefit the English team
"This could represent an benefit," he explained to reporters
"We've seen a many cricketers who have stated they have had difficult experiences down under
"For us, we are a quite calm, extremely confident team
"No scarring
"It's thrilling
"We all see it as a massive chance to achieve something remarkable"
Host Team Situation
Australia's net session on recently was temporarily interrupted by the risk of storms
Australia are likely to provide an opportunity to opener Jack Weatherald, with yet to debut seamer Brendan Doggett also coming in after injuries to captain Pat Cummins and teammate Josh Hazlewood
