Week 10 again delivered, with a major surprise for the Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' saying that attracts so many fans into the NFL
This outcome may have opened things up for the Patriots to move back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their eight and two rivals
Over in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Rams had ideal outcomes to set up a monster clash next week, while our top performer is pursuing milestones as well as the Most Valuable Player award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? That's the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had won seven in a consecutive games against Miami but were outperformed from the start as the Miami team ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the team's initial first down in the third quarter and initial scoring in the final quarter - yes the Dolphins had 10 days to prepare but it was nonetheless a massive egg produced by one of the league's top offences
Tua Tagovailoa threw two scores but running back De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Bottling up the league's best rushing attack was also key, with James Cook and teammates registering just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the year and just over fifty percent their 161.5 yard season average
Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone resulting in a nine-minute drive yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter fumble that the Dolphins turned into seven points just later
It was typical 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defense and Josh Allen attempting to overcompensate to rescue his squad from the situation - rather than the composed, controlled, balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year
Miami have served up a varied performances this year so the jury's out on whether this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll require an instant response in a tough game against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the New England are sneaking into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - New England Identify Route to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the New England, they're one of three eight and two teams in the NFL, all American Football Conference sides, but are they the top team?
One could find flaws in New England, the Broncos and Indianapolis really for feasting on the lesser sides, with only five of their combined 24 wins achieved against teams with a winning record - and one of those was the Indianapolis defeating the Broncos
Denver beat the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the final quarter while Indy can ride Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their prime time success in Orchard Park seems like a statement
Their pair of losses came in recently appointed coach Vrabel's initial three games, with seven consecutive victories, just like Denver, from that point - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to prepare was huge
Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he definitely deserves point for courage after absorbing some hard tackles in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his team to success
The defense is reliable and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth ball carrier to exceed 22mph this year on his first score
Although you can debate who 'the top team' is statistically, the Patriots should be favourites to finish with the top record thanks to their schedule - which includes just a single matchup against a successful opponent, although a significant contest against the Bills
Traveling to Baltimore is also tough, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also compete for first place but encounter the same problem) and additionally the Packers on the fixture list
The Colts also face the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, 49ers and two games with the 5-4 Jaguars to contend with. There's a long way to go but the door is open for a shock number one position in the American Football Conference
Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Set for Next Week Clash
Both squads with solid claims to be better than all of the three different eight and two teams are NFC West rivals the Seattle and Rams, who both scored forty points to go to seven and two before next week's Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the pair in Los Angeles
Both have won four in a row, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Darnold performing at an elite level (although Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with top receivers, and defensive units giving up under 20 points a game
Both could easily be undefeated as too - especially the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in overtime against the 49ers and then that agonising loss in Philadelphia when they had a game-winning field goal with the last kick blocked and run back by the Philadelphia for a touchdown
Seattle also lost to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before losing to the last kick of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly among the best sides in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the most exciting of the year so far
Player of the Week - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor could be on for a record season after his incredible display in Germany - running for 244 rushing yards, registering three scores and adding another 42 {receiving yards
